Account eligibility

Navy Federal states that members with Free Active Duty Checking receive qualifying military direct deposits one business day early. Its published calendar should control over a general rule because certain availability dates fall around weekends and holidays.

Eligibility depends on both the checking product and a qualifying military direct deposit. Membership alone does not place every account on the Active Net Pay schedule. Verify the product name in online banking or with Navy Federal before using an early date for cash-flow planning.

How to read the schedule

“January end-of-month” identifies the second January pay cycle even though some adjusted dates can occur near the beginning of the following month. Use the displayed date, not an assumption that military pay always arrives literally on the 1st or 15th.

The pay-period label and funds-available date answer different questions. The label identifies which half of active-duty pay the deposit represents; the date identifies when eligible account holders can use the funds. The official DFAS payday remains the underlying federal payment date.

Early and regular funds availability are different

Navy Federal’s calendar distinguishes Active Net Pay availability for eligible Free Active Duty Checking from regular military funds availability. A member using another checking type can see the deposit later than the early date without the payment being late.

Posting, pending display and available balance are also separate account states. For spending and bill payment, use the funds-available date applicable to the account—not an earlier posting indicator that may appear in transaction history.

If the Navy Federal deposit does not appear

  1. Confirm the account is eligible Free Active Duty Checking and still receives qualifying military direct deposit.
  2. Check whether you are comparing against the early or regular funds-available date.
  3. Review the current LES or NPA and direct-deposit destination in myPay.
  4. If the applicable published date passed, ask Navy Federal whether the incoming ACH is pending, rejected or returned.
  5. Contact the servicing finance office when DFAS did not issue the expected payment.

A bank-account change near a payroll cutoff can send the deposit to the previous account or cause a rejection. Keep the old account open until the first successful payment reaches the new destination whenever possible.

Navy Federal military pay-date questions

Does every Navy Federal member receive military pay early?

No. The published early calendar applies to qualifying military direct deposit into eligible Free Active Duty Checking. Other products use the regular availability schedule.

Are these dates guaranteed by subtracting one day from DFAS?

No calculation is needed here: the table reproduces Navy Federal’s published 2026 Active Net Pay availability dates. That is especially important around weekends and holidays.

Why can an end-of-month payment arrive in the next month?

The label refers to the military pay period, not necessarily the deposit’s calendar month. For example, a month-end entitlement can have an official payday on the first business day of the following month.

Is pending the same as available?

No. A transaction can be visible before the funds are available to spend. Use the available balance and the applicable funds-availability date.

Plan essential bills around the applicable regular payday. Account restrictions, direct-deposit changes or payment-file timing can affect an individual deposit.
